Exploring Fall...

Our week began with a celebration of Fall as we went outside to look at nature’s color wheel and talked about what we saw…

“There’s lots of yellow!”

“Mostly stuff is getting brown cause it’s getting all dried up.”

“There’s some red leaves that are kind of purple red.”

“I found the green grass but there’s no blue… maybe if we were by the ocean.”

Then we collected fall colors to bring in to our classroom.

We collected materials to bring inside to make a leaf creation like Lois Ehlert did in her book, “Leaf Man”.

On Tuesday, we met Mrs. Kruger in the library to learn about how to take out books and how to care for them. Mrs. Kruger toured us around the library. Our library days are Tuesday and Thursday. All students will be able to take out a book for up to 2 weeks.  We will take our first book home next Tuesday!

On Wednesdays we have music with Mrs. Moncrieff. She said that we are really good at keeping a beat and starting and stopping when we play instruments.

We also read a book about the buffalo and how he uses his eyes, ears, nose, feet, and fur to notice things around him. This book was written and illustrated by Kindergarten students at Tuscany School.

We are illustrators, too! We learned illustrators make the pictures that see in books.

We followed a guided drawing to draw a buffalo.

 WE NEED YOUR HELP!!

With cooler weather on the horizon we are heading into the time of year when children need to wear coats, mittens, boots, snow pants, toques, etc. etc. etc. PLEASE SHOW THEM HOW TO MANAGE THEIR CLOTHING INDEPENDENTLY. At dismissal time it becomes very stressful for students and teachers when one adult is trying to help 18+ children with their zippers, their boots, their backpacks, and so forth

(Imagine yourself at home trying to get out the door on time with 1, 2 or a few kids and multiply that frustration by 10 for school dismissal). Please show your kiddo how to remove their winter coat so the jacket arms do not end up inside out, and please ask them to dress independently at home...practise is required! Mittens should be LAST...and names need to be in EVERYTHING...

Thank you for your support!

For the love of learning,

Mrs. Webb
